Phase 2 Work includes the construction of a “Micro-pore Covered Aerated Static Pile (ASP) Composting System,” which involves the installation and startup testing of a proprietary composting technology supplied by Sustainable Generation, LLC and manufactured by W. L. & Gore Associates. The equipment and materials associated with the ASP composting technology was procured by DSNY under a separate bid and are stored at a location adjacent to the DSNY Compost Facility at the Fresh Kills Landfill.
In addition to installation of the technology components, the Contractor shall complete general site improvements necessary to accommodate the installation of the ASP composting system, including, but not limited to surveying, implementation of SWPPP requirements, removal and reuse of asphalt millings, common excavations, subgrade preparation and compaction, passive gas vents, electrical, water and sewer utilities, stormwater management appurtenances and drainage structures, asphalt and perimeter access roadway, cast-in place concrete structures, site restoration and rehabilitation, chain link fencing and quality control testing of materials for installation.
